It is interesting that Liz Virgo said that Blue Oak is her favorite tree. I got to thinking that it is one of my favorite as well. It isn't as large as the Valley Oak, nor has the nice fall color of the Black. Yet it is able to sustain itself by drawing out water from incrediable dry soil. I understand from soil moisture as low as 15%. That's the same amount of moisture that is contained in a bag of dry rice.
And yet the tree is as handsome as anything that gets pampered by irrigation.
