The official report summary: (truncated of course)

  • Over 100 people showed up to five nature outings presented by volunteers Ernie Riley (biologist and educator), Debra Bishop of EDAW, Mary Tappel, Pete Balfour of ECORP, Steve Fackler, Cyndi Brinkhurst (biologist), and Greg Bates of the Dry Creek Conservancy.

  • A total of about 700 people participated in events and the follwing celebration at Royer Park which featured music from KWOD 106.5, food consessions from local restaurants and exhibition booths by local NGOs, consulting groups, and Roseville Utilities.

This was a great opportunity to flex your conservation and restoration muscles and do some good for our Sierra Foothill communities and our local watersheds. Please visit the CreekWeek.org website to view a list of sponsors and see who is supporting these activities. This event only comes around once a year but there are many other events one can contribute time, money, or labor to. Do a little searching and if you cannot find anything feel free to email me and I'l start a mission to find something for you. :)

Thats Great!

These types of events are great for the community and general public.  What a great way to educate people about the sensitive nature of our environment by spending the afternoon working to protect it.  Kudos to you and everyone who was part of the event!  Sounds like it was a fun day!

Congratulations on a great turnout!

Thanks, Justin, for letting us know that folks on the edges of the Sierra are doing their part for conservation in their own growing communities!  It's great to hear about these communities paying attention to caring for the natural areas in the midst of the development that is the usual story from these parts!
